Eden's Dirt

Eden's Dirt is essentially a high-aeration, fast-draining “chunky style” medium.

Using these instructions will help you create tiers of moisture retention depending on plant needs.

Plants That Use 100% Eden's Dirt (No Soil Added)

Orchids (Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium)

Bromeliads
Anthuriums (especially velvety types)
Some Hoyas
Mounted ferns (like staghorn fern)
Certain Monsteras (especially albo, Thai, or collectors growing airy roots)

Why this works:

Roots need oxygen > water
Eden's Dirt mimics bark/forest debris
and prevents rot almost completely.

Plants That Need 1:1 Mix (Equal Parts Soil + Edens Dirt)(Balanced drainage + moderate moisture retention)

Pothos
Philodendrons
Monstera deliciosa
Peace Lily
Calatheas / Marantas
Aglaonema
Dracaena

Why this works:

Soil adds water retention + nutrients
Eden's Dirt prevents compaction and root rot.
Ideal for people who don’t want to water constantly.

Plants That Need 2:1 (2 Parts Soil : 1 Part Edens Dirt)(Higher moisture retention, slower drying)

Ferns (Boston, Maidenhair)
Fittonia (Nerve Plant)
Begonias
Prayer plants (Maranta, Calathea—if very humidity-loving setup)
Herbs (basil, parsley in containers)
African violets (light version)

Why this works:

More soil = water retention
Your mix still prevents soggy, suffocating roots.
Reduces watering frequency significantly.
